Sokin is anonymous by design

You can use every part of Sokin without an account. Audio sessions and assessments are built into the app and run entirely on your device.

Signing in is optional. It exists for one purpose: so your progress survives reinstalling the app and follows you to another device.

If you never sign in

Nothing you do is sent anywhere. Your nickname, your listening history and your assessment results stay on your device and are deleted when you delete the app.

The app makes a single request to our server when it starts, to ask which sign-in methods are available. That request carries no personal data, though like any web request our server briefly records the originating IP address in its logs.

If you sign in with Google, Apple or Telegram

We ask these services for the minimum they offer - the openid scope alone. We receive an opaque identifier that means nothing outside our service, and we store only that.

We do not receive or store your email address, your real name, your username, your phone number or your profile photo. Your nickname remains the only identity shown anywhere in the app.

What is stored on our servers for a signed-in user

• The opaque identifier from your sign-in provider
• Your nickname, chosen language and notification preference
• Which audio sessions you have played
• Which self-assessments you have completed and on what date
• The days on which you used the app, which is what produces your streak
• Your answers to the short questionnaire the app offers on first run

Your answers to any clinical self-assessment, and the scores they produce, are never transmitted and never stored on our servers. They are calculated on your device and stay there.

The first-run questionnaire

When you first open the app it offers a short questionnaire: what you are hoping for, what is troubling you at the moment, when the day is hardest, what you have already tried, and optionally your age range, gender and current situation.

Every question can be skipped, and skipping costs you nothing - the whole app works the same either way. You can change your answers at any time from the card on the home screen.

We use them for one thing: choosing what to suggest to you, and giving the assistant some context so you do not have to explain yourself from scratch. We do not sell them, share them, or use them for advertising. If you sign in they are stored against your account so they follow you to another device; if you do not, they never leave your phone.

What we never collect

Email addresses, real names, phone numbers, profile photos, contacts, precise location, advertising identifiers, and the content of your clinical self-assessment answers. We do not use analytics or advertising services, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone.

Deleting your account

Open Profile and choose Delete account. This permanently erases your record and everything attached to it from our servers immediately - not a flag, an actual deletion. If you signed in with Apple, we also revoke Apple's authorisation at the same time.

You can also delete your account without the app, on the account deletion page: sign in there with the Google or Telegram account you used in the app and confirm.

Signing out instead leaves your data on your device, so you can sign back in later.

Where data is held

Our servers are operated by Railway. Data is transmitted over TLS and access tokens are stored on your device in the operating system's secure keystore (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore).

Children

Sokin is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Sokin provides self-help material and self-assessment questionnaires. It does not diagnose, treat or replace a qualified mental health professional. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services on 103 or a person you trust.
